Who is HeReviews.com?
Well, actually I'm just an average guy who happens to know a bit about websites and think it would be valuable to have average people doing product reviews so I am going to do just that. I'll choose at least one product every month and review it for you and give you my complete unadulterated opinion about the quality and value of the product.
I'll test Money making products including how to make money with real estate notes, how to make money on the internet, eBay and anything else you want me to test. I'll test kid products, baby products, tools and cool stuff for the guys and even home appliances for you women so you can have a real opinion about the things you use everyday. Hopefully I can help you make some money or save some money and avoid a headache. I just hope that doesn't mean I need to go through such headaches myself... |

First product review for HeReviews.com!
Here it is, the very first review for our site. I wanted to look at shop vacs and I thought we could start at the bottom of the price range or near it anyway. I thought, why not find a product that seems to offer value but also can be purchased for a low price. What I found was a "Shop Vac" at Amazon.com and what's more it had FREE shipping! Sounds like a good place to start.
What
better product to start off with for a review than something that all
us guys can use in the shop, garage or around the house. The 6 gallon
shop vac seemed like a good choice. It is available from Amazon for
$53.49 with free Super Saver shipping. You can get one today with the link on this page right away.

The vac comes with a 6-foot power cord which is very handy. I get so sick of those short cords that won't go far enough to connect to anything. Granted, you will most likely still want to use an extension cord for most jobs to allow for mobility but it is nice to have a 6 ft cord connected to the vacuum.
It has side tank handles and a top carry handle.
I can't tell you how handy that top handle is. I never had to worry about anything coming disconnected and the top handle allows for easy moving when I need to carry the vac from one spot to another.I also noticed that there is a hook system on the accessory carrier that allows for wrapping the cord to keep it out of the way when being stored.
The test:
I started with some basic garage
floor clean up. I don't keep my garage as clean as my wife would like but this certainly helped me get closer to it. I simply used the tube and cleaned up some corners and around the steps to the house. The Shop vac had plenty of suction for the normal stuff but I wanted to really test it so I looked for something a little "larger". It sucked up a large piece of packaging tape no prob with no clogging. (I'll see about fixing that box for shipping later).

I
decided to test my favorite job with the shop vac. I moved on to
cleaning house vacuum out. You know how "easy it is to empty those
vacuum canisters right? Yeah right! I'll have to do another review for
those vacuums later. Anyway, I took the canister off of the house vacuum
and my shop vac did pretty good until it sucked
up that hair ball. I guess there is a reason the cats always
spit those up. they just don't go all the way through the system very
well. This was quite a large hairball and it made it all the way through
to the can but just couldn't quite finish the trip into the canister.
If you are looking to suck up large rodents or hairballs then you might
want something a little more industrial for your garage. After removing
the hair ball with my trusty bailing wire hook I was able to move on
with the testing.
Next
was to test the broad attachment and see if I could make quick work of
cleaning the rest of the floor. I did not lose suction with the broad
attachment and it seemed to really grab the floor as it cleaned. That
took care of the grass from the lawn mower and the dirt and dust in the
center of the garage. I'm fairly tall and one of my biggest pet peeves
is that the world seems to be built around "average" (ie. small) people.
I had to build my sink 6 inches higher than the raised level from the
builder just so I wouldn't hurt my back washing my face in the bathroom
or shaving or brushing my teeth...anyway, the length of the attachments
for this vac were long enough that I did not need to worry about going
to the therapist after the job was done. |

Conclusion:
I give this vacuum 5 stars. I don't think the need for the larger rodent passing tank opening warrants a deduction in quality. The vacuum does a magnificent job at all the simple tasks I needed it for. I would love to have some extra filters with it of course. It did not come with the wet filter sleeve which would have to be purchased separately but they are not terribly expensive. |
